My entry for GMTK Game Jam 2025, incorporating the theme "Loop".

Get through the screens by painting all the tiles white with your automatically moving "paintbrush". The paintbrush is quite underpowered and needs to go over some tiles multiple times to fully paint them, so you need to use bracket blocks to loop over select regions. Make sure to jump back the correct number of times, in the correct places!

This game is one-button, and can be played using any key on the keyboard, the left mouse button, or a touchscreen. (Though the performance was quite a bit worse when I tested it on my tablet, especially the audio.)

Updated after the jam to address some feedback and add some more polish:

  • Checkpoints have been added upon reaching levels 1, 6, and 12. After dying, you will now be sent back to the furthest checkpoint achieved in the current session, letting you skip the earlier, easier levels and dive straight back into the more difficult content. A session ends when you exit to the menu; the game now keeps track of your high score for the current session.
  • The game now kills you as soon as the level becomes impossible to complete. To accommodate this, the level generation algorithm has been changed to allow a slightly different set of level layouts than before.
  • The slowest speed has been made even slower, and an additional delay before you start a level has been added.
  • Some explanatory text has been added to the main gameplay UI, for people who would rather not view the tutorial. The entire UI simplifies down upon reaching level 12.
  • Various other visual and audio changes.

Both old (1.0) and new (1.1) versions are available as a download for Windows and Linux.

Made in Rust using Macroquad and Kira. Thanks to tgolsson, nicolas-sabbatini, and everyone else who contributed to this script for making Macroquad integrate with wasm-bindgen.
